Having started working on my own from home in Kenilworth in 1971 as Neville Harrison Domestic Appliance Engineer, then acquiring the shop in Kenilworth in 1973, we are actually 50 years old. I would like to thank our numerous customers for their support over the years. As you can imagine, we are inundated with everyone's problems, so we try to advise from our years of knowledge, hoping to save the customer a call charge, as there is nothing worse than an engineer turning up to find no fault.

Common Washing Machine Problems
My door seal needs changing. Due to black marks on it. This is caused by only washing at low temperatures. The bacteria and viruses need temperature to kill them, so you should once or twice a month do an old-fashioned boil wash (whites) with the old bleaching low-lather powders. This will kill the viruses and bacteria and also prevent the drum spider from rotting and breaking away, especially on the cheap imported appliances.

Common Dishwasher Problems
Dishwashers stuck in the programme will not fill or drain. If using tablets with cling film coverings, remove the film; as we have found with some tablets, the film is not melting as it should, thus blocking the water in the appliance. Remove the film if you are using these tablets.

Try this easy fix
Boil a couple of kettles of water and pour it into the sump at the bottom of the dishwasher. Leave for 15 minutes, then test the machine; hopefully this would have melted the film and rectified the fault.

Due to COVID, we have had to reduce our call area due to the interruption of HS2. We are currently not covering Rugby, Southam, or Wellsbourne due to being stuck in traffic.

Whenever I’ve used Harrison Domestic in the past for spare parts for a tumble dryer, washing machine or electric oven, I have been pleased beyond belief. One time when I called, I was told (over the phone) how to take my dishwasher apart, look in the right place for the fault and fix it – all for free. Usually a spare part is needed – I call and explain the problem, I buy a spare part, I fit it and it’s done. Brilliant.

This was of working is not for everyone – Harrison Domestic stress all work done yourself must be safe and follow the correct procedures. If not, do not attempt it. They can have an engineer come to visit you and take it from there. See the image on the right for full Sales, Services and Spares.

Amazing service. LOVE this place !! Harrison Domestic were recommended to me by my Mom when I moved back to Kenilworth from the US. There is a massive difference in UK vs. US appliances – very few people have their own washing machine in NYC and the laundromat cycle takes 30 minutes, so I was taken aback by the length of UK cycles !!

I purchased a fabulous tomato red Liebherr fridge/freezer and a Bosch Maxx 6 washing machine that takes a daily beating from filthy sweaty sports kits, muddy dog walks etc. – 3 1/2 years later – everything still works like a dream (๐Ÿคž). Harrison Domestic were kind, friendly and refreshingly professional. The ordering, fitting all went great – all the packaging was taken away; and the engineers helped explain some UK vs US differences – I was feeling very lost. Even when I called the owner to come and check a leak – he remained calm, composed and professional when it was discovered to be a leaky faucet and NOTHING to do with his guys’ installation work – this is after he’d gotten down on his hands and knees and investigated my sink and faucets – can’t say enough about the service really, keep meaning to drop off a box of biscuits – two generations of my family and friends use them. Very grateful to have been directed not use them – 3 thumbs up !! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
